Rooftent camping
Roof tent camping is a new and unique opportunity available to people touring in East Africa. The experience has previously been successful in South Africa and we at Flight & Safaris offer a similar experience in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
These high quality tents are fixed on a roof rack on top of our 4 x 4 Toyota Hilux and Landrover 110.
Available for you to choose from is an option of self-drive, which most of our clients prefer for the full outdoor adventure. However, you can also choose an organized mobile or exclusive camping safari with an expert guide and/or driver and Chef. Either option is highly recommendable during the peak and off peak season and especially if you wish to stay away from the mainstream lodges / camps & popular tourist crowds.
VEHICLE RENTAL WITH ROOF / GROUND TENTS
At flight safaris, we have two options of vehicles that can be used for roof tent camping: The Toyota Hilux and the Landrover Defender 110 with 200 tdi engines. Both vehicles are custom designed for the bush and have a high ground clearance for off-road driving.
They can be rented on self-drive or chauffeur driven basis at the most affordable rates within the region. The roof tents offer space for up to 2 adults ideally but a child could still fit while you can still use the roof hatch for game viewing. For additional clients we provide ground tents and a variety of additional camping gear as part of the package.
Our guides are professionals with vast experience in the areas and very professional in their approach. They respect the privacy of the clients and will sleep a distance away in his own tent.
The driver/guide will also assist you with pitching up the tents for the night and take care of your throughout your trip. We do request that you provide food for the driver/guide, should you wish not to have a chef with you on safari. Camping in both Kenya & Tanzania is only allowed on designated campsites. We will be happy to work out a suitable itinerary & quote for you, should you be interested in this romantic and most authentic camping experience.
For the tourist seeking comfort and a great time, the Toyota Hilux would be more ideal. For the tourist seeking to rake the tough terrain, we would recommend he Landrover Defender, both of which are suitable for a maximum of 5 - 6 persons.

PARTICULARS AND RATES
When you are ready to book your safari, we will send you an invoice and a contract with the terms and conditions.
You will be able to confirm your booking by paying a 25% deposit. Payment can either by cash transfer or using visa card or master card. The balance is payable two weeks before you commence your safari.
